About

A workshop for taking things apart.

Every Mechanism is a catalog of how ordinary objects work. One page, one object.

Each page starts as a 3D model built in Blender. The model is the thing you can turn and pull apart. Around it, the page names the parts and says what each one is doing, in ordinary language rather than a manual.

The trombone page lets you move the slide and see how a longer tube changes the note. The carburetor page lets you watch air speed up in a narrow throat and lift petrol out of the float bowl. Later pages will do the same for other mechanisms: show the motion, then explain it.

There is no reader account. Pages are added one at a time, and the ones already published stay in the catalog.

If a visit counter is switched on, every public page loads the same snippet, either Google Analytics or Matomo, from a single file. Nothing is loaded until that is switched on. The admin pages are marked so search engines do not index them.
